Hills Heritage Farm

Heritage livestock and regenerative agriculture

Hills Heritage Farm is a heritage livestock and regenerative agriculture operation in Knox County, Kentucky, run by Todd and Shea, retired military veterans who relocated from Texas to build something rooted and intentional. They raise Purebred Nubian Goats, Dexter Cattle, Tunis Sheep, Heritage Turkeys, and maintain an active apiary, with Guardian Livestock Dogs woven into the operation. Their approach treats the farm as a living ecosystem, where every animal serves a purpose and the land is managed regeneratively from the ground up.

the challenge

Todd and Shea had started a website but it wasn’t getting them anywhere. The structure didn’t reflect the depth of what they were actually building, a multi-species heritage farm with Nubian goats, Dexter cattle, Tunis sheep, heritage turkeys, a Guardian Livestock Dog program, and an active apiary. They didn’t have the time, the tools, or the direction to pull it together themselves. With ecommerce coming and the Guardian Dog program already drawing interest from across the country, they needed more than a cleanup. They needed a build strategy and someone to execute it.

the solution

Hackflo came in to replace what wasn’t working with a site built from scratch around the Hills Heritage Farm brand and operation. Phase 1 covered full web design, professional copywriting across all farm and animal pages, managed hosting on Hackflo’s infrastructure, and the foundational ecommerce setup ready for Phase 2 product launches. Every animal program was given its own dedicated space, including a full Kentucky Hills Turkish Boz Shepherd program page. The build was completed in under 5 weeks.

SERVICES WE USED

Web Design Hackflo rebuilt the Hills Heritage Farm site from the ground up in WordPress and Elementor Pro, replacing the unfinished site they had been working with. The design captures the character of a working heritage farm while presenting each animal breed and program with care and detail, giving visitors a clear path through everything the farm offers.

Website Copywriting Every page on the site was written by Hackflo, from the homepage down through individual animal and program pages covering Nubian Goats, Dexter Cattle, Tunis Sheep, Heritage Turkeys, Guardian Livestock Dogs, and the apiary. Copy was written to honor the way Todd and Shea actually farm, communicating their regenerative approach and the ecosystem they’re building without overselling it.

Managed Hosting Hills Heritage Farm is hosted on Hackflo’s managed SPanel VPS infrastructure with DNS managed through Cloudflare. The site runs on a reliable, professionally maintained stack with ongoing hosting support handled by Hackflo so Todd and Shea can stay focused on the farm.

Ecommerce Setup The ecommerce foundation was built into Phase 1 so Hills Heritage Farm won’t need a second build when the store goes live. Honey, holiday turkeys, and other farm goods will move through the existing site when Phase 2 launches, saving the cost and timeline of a separate ecommerce project later. Most agencies would have split this into two engagements. Hackflo built it into the first.

THE OUTCOME

Hills Heritage Farm now has a website that actually reflects what Todd and Shea have built in Knox County. Every animal program is presented clearly, visitors can understand the farm’s philosophy and product offerings from the first page they land on, and the site is structured to grow with the operation. What used to be a half-built site that wasn’t getting them anywhere is now a working asset that does its job every day.

The copy alone changed how the farm shows up online. Before, visitors had to already know who Hills Heritage Farm was to get anything useful from the site. Now the homepage, the animal program pages, the apiary section, and the Guardian Livestock Dog page all explain themselves. Nubian goats, Dexter cattle, Tunis sheep, heritage turkeys, the Kentucky Hills Turkish Boz Shepherd program, and the honey operation each have their own dedicated space written to honor the way Todd and Shea actually farm.

The entire project was completed in under 5 weeks, from a broken, unfinished site to a fully designed, professionally written, ecommerce-ready web presence built on reliable managed infrastructure. The hosting is handled. The DNS is managed through Cloudflare. The site stays up, stays current, and stays out of Todd and Shea’s way so they can focus on the farm itself.

When Phase 2 launches and the store goes live, the ecommerce foundation is already in place. Honey, holiday turkeys, and other farm goods can move through the existing site without requiring a separate build or a second engagement. Most agencies would have split this into two projects. Hackflo built it into one, which means Hills Heritage Farm doesn’t have to budget, schedule, or wait for a second build when the time comes to sell.

The Guardian Livestock Dog program is already drawing interest from across the country, and the new site is built to handle that scale of attention. Todd and Shea went from a site that wasn’t working to a professional online home that does the farm justice and positions Hills Heritage Farm to grow its customer base across Kentucky and beyond.
